What is a proof of return?
To enter the competition, you'll need to upload a photo or screen shot confirming the number of containers that you returned and the date, time and location where you returned them. This is called your proof of return.
Depending on where or how you returned your containers, the proof of return may look different:
I used the CDS Vic app - proof of return is a screen shot of your refund record in the app.
I went to a depot - proof of return is the transaction receipt that the depot gives you when you return your containers. If you used the CDS Vic app at the depot, the proof of return is a screenshot of your refund record.
I went to an over-the-counter (OTC) - proof of return is the Proof of Return forms that the OTC will give you when you return containers during the competition period. If you used the CDS Vic app at the OTC, the proof of return is a screenshot of your refund record.
I went to a reverse vending machine (RVM) - proof of return is the voucher issued by the RVM. If you used the CDS Vic app at the RVM, the proof of return is a screenshot of your refund record.
The photo/screenshot that you upload to the entry form is proof that you returned your containers as per the information in your entry form. We will use the photo to validate your entry if we draw you out as a winner, so make sure the photo clearly shows the date, time and number of containers you returned.
I am returning more than 50 containers. Do I need a separate proof of return for each lot of 50?
No. If you return more than 50 containers in one visit to a refund point, you don't need a separate proof of return for each lot of 50. You'll just need one proof of return showing the total number of containers you returned.
Remember that the online entry form will automatically work out the number of entries for you, regardless of whether you return 50 or 300 or 4,500 containers in the one go. Easy!
The RVM went down while I was returning my containers, I now have a couple of receipts and it looks like I haven't returned all my containers in the one return/transaction - how can I enter the competition?
You can upload and submit more than one voucher, as long as they're all from the same return of at least 50 containers at the one refund point.
Here's how to do this:
Make sure that you save the screen shots/photos of your proof of return receipts in your phone's photo gallery or save them all in the same place on your computer.
When you're completing the competition entry form, select the shots/photos of your receipts and upload them at the same time (not individually).
How many times can I enter the competition?
Enter as many times as you like, provided that each time you return at least 50 containers, complete an entry form and upload your proof of return. The more containers you return, the more entries you get!
A unique proof of return is required each time you enter the competition.
How will you know if people do bogus entries?
Once the prize draw has been completed, a robust validation process will take place to ensure that the winning entries are legitimate entries. This includes checking the records of individual refund points and matching them back to the transaction for each winner.
I returned some containers before the competition opened. Can I use that receipt (proof of return) to enter the competition?
No. The Win A Million Cents competition runs from 4 May - 14 June 2026. Only container returns from within that date range will qualify as valid competition entries.
How will I know that my entry has been successfully submitted?
You'll see an on-screen confirmation appear after you click the submit button. You should see this near the bottom of your entry form. The entry form will also automatically send a confirmation email to the email address you supplied. If you haven't received it, try checking your spam filter or junk email folder.
If you want to keep track of your entries, you may wish to keep your confirmation email or a screen shot of the on-screen confirmation. However, you don't need to retain any form of confirmation or proof of return to win the competition, as we will validate your entry against our data if we draw you out as one of our winners.
